Named after a classic third shift bar in their native St Paul, MN, Ace Box Shift brings a gritty no frills approach to their jazz tinged funky sound. Think of it as jazz for the working man. You aren’t supposed to sit quietly and study it as the band shows off their conservatory bonafides. You're supposed to get your ass up and dance up a sweat when they play. Their debut single perfectly captures the energy of walking into your neighborhood watering hole and seeing them posted up in the corner; no stage, no PA, no fancy lights, just 5 guys digging in while patrons move to the playful guitar melodies atop the heavy bass/percussion/drum grooves. No singers, no piano, no horns, just the bare essentials for a damn good time.
