Friday Afternoon
RockHailing from Smiths Falls, Ontario, Friday Afternoon became a fixture of the Ottawa Valley music scene, blending garage-rock energy with country-rock covers and compelling originals. The quartet—frontman Freddy Dixon, guitarist Roger Plant, bassist Franz Strokan and drummer Sam Henry—built a loyal following through high-energy performances at local dance halls and bars. In 1968, Trend Records founder Merv Buchanan discovered the band during a promotional visit and signed them. Trend released two singles in 1969, capturing the spirit of Canada’s late-’60s independent music scene. Fervor Records proudly preserves their legacy.
