Gospel Ensemble
SoulThe Gospel Ensemble was a Chicago gospel group comprised of Mary Armstrong, Willie Morton, Rosie Price, Chloree Vaden, and Sadie Carter. Much like its Halo labelmates and often alongside them, the group performed frequently on Chicago gospel programs during the 1960s and made several appearances on Isabel Joseph Johnson’s Rock of Ages television program on WCAE in the late 1960s. Their cuts on Halo included the released “He’ll Take Care of You” and the unreleased “Lord Deliver Me,” both performances from 1965 and similar to the Gospel Souls in high-voltage female singing and a secular music arrangement.
