John Kontol

John Kontol grew up in Whiting, Indiana, near Chicago, where early influences like Chicago, Steely Dan, Earth, Wind & Fire, and David Foster shaped his musical direction. A multi-instrumentalist trained in conservatory studies, he played trombone, piano, organ, and drums before moving into songwriting and production. In the early 1980s, Kontol released the albums *I’m With You* and *It’s Time*, blending AOR, blue-eyed soul, jazz fusion, and sophisticated pop. Though commercially overlooked, both later became sought-after collector records.
