Live Nudes
Formed in 1988 by brothers Lawrence and Mark Zubia, Live Nudes emerged from Arizona’s Tempe music explosion with a gritty, soulful sound that stood apart from the era’s jangly college rock. Backed by Terry Smith, Vince Green, and Greg Simmons, the band mixed Stones-style swagger, blues crunch, ska rhythms, and poetic songwriting shaped by Lawrence’s raw, weathered vocals. Regular fixtures at Long Wong’s and the local club circuit, Live Nudes built a devoted following through relentless live shows and a self-released EP before splitting in 1992.
