Artist Snapshot
Maurice Rice is an obscure figure in rhythm and blues. With only two 7" singles released in the early 70s, we know he worked with stalwart Boston drummer/producer Herschel Dwellingham and released on Skippy White's Roxbury-based My Record label. But not much else is known, except that this song is Northern Soul *fire* - a rare funk gem with a snappy beat, sizzling fuzz guitar and enough wah wah to water the lawn on a hot July day. The mono and stereo mixes are a bit different - so check them out.
