Merel & Tony are a Dutch/Texan duo who write quietly dramatic music graced with strings, moody Rhodes piano hooks, ukuleles, skittering drums and winding sub synths. Their backgrounds in folk, post-punk and theater blend with a shared love of cabaret, Laurie Anderson, and their large family of musicians in Houston, and the resulting music covers a lot of ground: they have written for big and small theaters and programs like This American Life, as well as their own band.
