The Twisters originated in the South Bay area of Los Angeles in the late 70's, founded by Brit rocker Mike Wainwright and his American counterpart, Fred Grabert. Their presence on the emerging New Wave scene earned them some spots on a Rhino Records compilation of the best bands in L.A, which resulted in a Rhino Records Twisters EP. During the course of their career, the band performed with notables such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Hiatt, Berlin, Quiet Riot and The Troggs.
