Ellis Island Sound is the duo of sonic explorers Pete Astor (The Loft, Weather Prophets) and David Sheppard (State River Widening, Snow Palms). Traveling the world just below the radar, the duo have carved a path of acoustically embellished electronic music a la Tortoise and the Beta Band. With deconstruction as their modus, EIS reveals textural trance arcs of kalimba, vibraphone, Tuareg-style electric guitar vamps and Krautrock beats - all of these world influences in one transcendent experience.
