Siberian born Ilya Beshevli writes piano-led movements in the classical style. But it was a chance meeting with a piano in a nursery at the ripe age of 21 that instantly brought him back to the forgotten musical heritage of his youth. Dark and brooding, Beshevli's work explores the inner-city flit and hum of his new home town, Moscow, and reaffirms Russian composition as the eastern pillar of European musical culture.
