Chicago's vocal trio The Emotions started as a gospel group called The Hutchinson Sunbeams in the early 1960s. Jeanette, Sheila, and Wanda Hutchinson, all teens, recorded this cute "Ronettes"-style Christmas single as "Hutch Stereo's" in 1962. It is their first recording. In the next few years they recorded records here and there for small labels but in 1968 they changed their name to The Emotions, signed with a major label, and had enormous success in the '70s and '80s. Their biggest hit was 1979's "Boogie Wonderland", performed with Earth, Wind, and Fire. They still perform today and record for their own label, Sunbeam Records.
