Rope Store were, and sort of still are, a British boy/girl duo, Jason & Gemma. They write & record 60s-soul inspired songs in a Cold War bunker, using one vintage ribbon microphone, onto an 8 track reel to reel tape machine. Their standard pattern is to write, record, mix, master & release each song in one evening. In amongst the warm, analogue soulful sounds you'll hear hints of 70s library music masters like Alan Hawkshaw & Keith Mansfield, plus the sort of crunchy drum & percussion breakdowns that formed the birth of hip hop in the mid-70s.
