Maurice

Maurice Rice was one of Boston’s great lost soul voices. Recording simply as Maurice, he emerged in the early 1970s with a pair of standout singles for Herschel Dwellingham's My Records label, including the Northern Soul favorite “What I Got, I Got (And Ain’t Gonna Lose)” and the uplifting “Love Peace and Joy.” Blessed with a powerful, expressive tenor and natural showman’s flair, Maurice balanced gritty funk energy with heartfelt soul sophistication.
