Carol Montag
VintageCarol was born in Ames, Iowa, to a master well digger and a stay-at-home mom in a house filled with music. Her mother insisted all five children take piano, and Carol soon sang in church, falling in love with hymns and liturgical songs while imagining herself on a grand stage. She later studied flute, then taught herself guitar by ear, inspired by folk greats like Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, and Joan Baez, saving until she could buy her own. She has shared bills with artists from Arlo Guthrie to Three Dog Night and recorded four solo albums, along with two holiday releases with the trio Tribute.
