Connie Conway

Jazz

Singer, songwriter, arranger, bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, producer, A&R man, and label executive, Connie Conway was an unstoppable musical force in the burgeoning 1950s Phoenix, AZ, music scene. In June 1955, Connie, along with longtime musical colleagues Paul Humlee, James Wilcox, and George Welch, founded Music Counselors, Inc., dba MCI Records. The new firm operated out of Floyd Ramsey’s premier Arizona facility, Ramsey’s Recording Studio. The label was responsible for the first top 10 hit that came out of Arizona, Stanford Clark's "The Fool."
