Artist Snapshot

One part fiction, but always winking at the truth, one part truth. He wrote songs in unheated basements in Brooklyn while wearing ten layers of clothing, and windowless boxes in Burbank next to trap producers getting so moon-like that they fell asleep to their own music. He toured the world with jazz legends and indie rock bands. He built an LA studio with the best gear: avocado trees, sunshine, and waves. But throughout the journey, the music was for someone else. So, upset by a seeming emotional inability to jump the barrier inside himself as writer and performer, he created emma. Vintage bedroom pop. 808s and Hammonds. Curated and created by one person. // Photo by Deniz Cuylan.
