Los Santos Caballeros is a project of cinematic funk collaborations by members of Instant Karma!, Hi-Lux, Chris Hazelton's Boogaloo 7, and The Freedom Affair. The horn work here is sublime - long, percolating lines of trumpet and bari sax keep us focused on wistful melodies that evoke gritty 70s themes while the rhythm section is fully grounded in the groove as only these Kansas City gentlemen can. Groove IS indeed king.
