Dear “big food,” we wrote a breakup song about you.
Our bright and “explosive” collaboration with our friends at 72andSunny and the 107 year-old dairy company, Tillamook made an appearance on the west coast television during this year’s Oscars. It was an honor to team up with the talented creatives in Tillamook’s crusade to get food out of cans and straight from the farm.
Our track was composed by Graham Barton, and produced by Director of Music Production, Rob Dennler and Producer, Katy Davidson. Lead vocals were by Holland Andrews from the Portland-based band Like A Villain. When chatting with Rob, he explained that their favorite part of the process was developing the musical approach. “72andSunny asked us to write an anthem, something that had the feel of a protest song” Rob said. The piece was intended to feel like a breakup story, and Rob explains that “We really wanted the music initially to stir up feelings of nostalgia, and thoughts of reminiscing on the past. Then, suddenly the whole tone of spot shifts, at this moment of truth… It’s over, and the chains of Big Food are broken.” The spot ends on a very triumphant and powerful note. The track comes to a dramatic end with Andrews belting out a victorious roar as the music crescendos. Watch and enjoy.
