Building Better Spaces in Our Community: Marmoset partners with Transition Projects

A housing crisis is a multifaceted issue that trickles down throughout all layers of a community. In the case of Portland, Oregon, the displacement of families and individuals is indicative of a city whose growth bubble is near bursting.

A rapid growth rate means a surge in rental costs, neighborhoods pushing out people further away from the city and into the suburbs. Even more drastically, for those who can’t escape the rising costs even in the distant outskirts — homelessness becomes an unescapable reality.

As a music licensing agency rooted in community, when choosing the organizations to partner with over the summer months, we turned our attention to Transition Projects. Donating 10% of our profits every month means acknowledging those who are often overlooked, inquiring how we can be of service to those in need — through partnering with Transition Projects, we wanted to aid those in our community seeking physical shelter.

Opening the Laurelwood Center on August 15th marks Transition Project’s latest landmark in progress. Apart from standard shelter beds, the center offers a built-in health clinic and kitchen, amenities designed to help visitors find their footing before moving onto something more permanent.

We’re proud supporters of the outstanding pioneers at Transition Projects and their mission toward addressing the city’s humanitarian crisis. Learn more about the organization and listen to the stories of those impacted here.
