It’s true. Portland has a lot of things going for it, geographically speaking. We’re only a short drive from the Pacific Ocean, the high desert of Central Oregon, the Emerald City of Seattle is only a couple hours to the North… and we are firmly nestled in a rich valley, surrounded by deep deep forests and a charming culture. It’s no surprise then, that Portland’s musical talent reflects the landscapes around them. Great Wilderness collect samples of these rustic elements and put them into a neat folk package that fits in to the hillsides and river beds of the Pacific Northwest. Their harmony-rich sound brings to mind such bands as Mountain Man, Horse Feathers and Joanna Newsom. Great Wilderness recently released their EP called “Rest.”
