New Album Watch: ‘Something Good’ by Dan Mills

Overflowing with bright, confident arrangements and vulnerable lyrics, singer-songwriter and composer, Dan Mills, has just released his third LP, Something Good and it’s…really good. Hailing from Brooklyn, Mills continues in his Americana style of folk-pop, incorporating danceable percussion elements with a country twang and plucky piano progressions that nod to simpler times.

Drawing from influences such as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and the later work of John Mayer, Mills combines upbeat instrumentation with driving guitar melodies to create an infectious old-timey swing. The new album also features songs that take a slower, smoother ride, with Mills crooning emotional, no-holds-barred lyrics that find ways into your heart. Mills tells The Bluegrass Situation: “If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the good ones [songs] are always honest.”

Something Good is full of moving messages about growing up and undeniably catchy grooves, fresh off the presses and ready to make their way to your speakers. Stream the full album here, check out Mills’ other work below and enjoy.
