The 4th installment in our A/VEC series saw the live premiere of the brainchild of two massively talented creatives, a packed crowd comprised of our beloved community and not a single open seat in sight. The excitement in the air was palpable from the start as members of our creative community filed in and mingled, ready to experience the magic of a live collaboration.
Inspired by a curiosity to explore the limitless nature of what collaboration can create, the A/VEC series invites a filmmaker and musician to dream up, create and execute a project together under mutual anonymity, a limited time frame and minimal direction. No communication is allowed between them during this period, coloring the work of each party with unique interpretations.
This time, we invited filmmaker Jennifer Reeder and Marmoset artist Secret Drum Band to collaborate together. The resulting product is a powerful film featuring trans-activist and actress Angelica Ross, brought to life by Reeder’s gritty visuals and punctuated by Secret Drum Band’s percussive, rhythmic textures.
