When it comes to songwriting, it’s not just about the instrumentation. There is an equal weight to writing lyrics that capture a vivid moment in time; a story that remains tangible and relatable to all ears willing to listen.  Ryan Stively has always had a knack for the literary and clever spectrum of lyricism, it also doesn’t hurt that his music is also engaging and wraps you up in an acoustic and melodic landscape – each song being a comfortable chair to sit in.

Let’s dig into a few songs…

The energetic and reflectiveWe Forget Everything” brings in many organic textures that include acoustic guitar and piano. Contrary to the title, there is a hopeful element to this song that is liberating and captures a youthful spark with vocals wrapped in percussion.

Golden October” travels with scenic imagery down a classic backcountry road.  Through classic electric guitar work and a steady beat, there is a reflective tone to the lyrics expressing detail in moments that are both human and vulnerable.

Continuing on with “Soft Kindgom“, there is a somber mood that is creating with intimate string and guitar textures calling for reflection and emphasis on the vocals leading the story and narrative.  This is a beautiful number that you can stargaze to.
